Annual Sports Day 2023-2024

“Gold medals won by athletes do not just contain gold but they are proof of the hard work and dedication of the winners.”

Games and sports have become an integral element of present day education. They teach them the qualities of discipline, sportsmanship, team spirit and leadership. They also enhance the physical and mental development of children. You can improve your physical and mental health by participating in sports. It is an effective method to stay fit and healthy. Shree H J Gajera English Primary School, Katargam celebrated the annual sports day 2023-24 amidst a lot of fun and frolic.

The Sports programme began with the welcoming of the guests and their felicitation. Trained students performed Suryanamaskar to the tuneful chants of shlokas. Thereafter, the little shining stars also presented a Pom-pom Callisthenic drill, along with an energetic performance using dumb-bells, enchanting everyone with their rhythmical movements. The guest speaker, in his address to the students laid emphasis on the need to participate. He said that it is not important to win, it is participation that makes all the difference.

After the performances, the national and state level players of our school did the torch-bearing following which the parade was there, where the student council members took part and displayed a rhythmic performance to the beats of the energetic drumming by the trained learners. As they took their places, the whole strength of learners who were seated stood up and placed their right hand up for taking the oath. After the oath, the dignitaries were led to the ground where with the releasing of the balloons the event was launched.

The learners from class 5th to 7th teamed up according to their houses and as per their chosen game event. Then, the games begun. Athletics as well as high jump or it may be the shot-put, in each contest we observed a natural sportsmanship and fellowship among the learners. Overall it was a tremendous day with a huge participation.

“Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream and a vision.”
