Celebrating the Divine Teachings of the Bhagavad Gita: Geeta Jayanti

On the auspicious occasion of Geeta Jayanti, our school, Shree H.J. Gajera English Medium School, Primary Section, Katargam, organized a heartfelt celebration honoring the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Geeta. This event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Grades 6 to 8, who showcased their dedication and reverence through a mesmerizing Bhagavad Geeta Shloka recitation.

 

The celebration began with a lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the ushering in of knowledge. This was followed by Geeta Pujan, where the sacred scripture was venerated, reminding everyone of its profound spiritual and moral guidance.

Students chanted selected shlokas from the Bhagavad Geeta, their melodious voices resonating with the essence of devotion and discipline. Their recitation reflected a deep understanding of the verses, inspiring everyone present. Teachers emphasized the relevance of the Bhagavad Geeta in modern life, encouraging students to imbibe its teachings for a life filled with purpose and positivity.

Shlokas Recited During the Event:

  1. कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
    मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि।
    “You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction.”
    (Chapter 2, Verse 47)

  2. यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत।
    अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम्।
    “Whenever there is a decline in righteousness and an increase in unrighteousness, O Arjuna, at that time I manifest Myself on earth.”
    (Chapter 4, Verse 7)

  3. विध्या विनय संपन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि।
    शुणि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः।
    “The humble sages, by virtue of true knowledge, see with equal vision a learned and gentle Brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater.”
    (Chapter 5, Verse 18)

Impact of the Event:
The event left a lasting impression on the young minds, instilling in them the essence of selflessness, dharma, and spiritual wisdom. It was a moment of pride and learning for the school, as students embraced the teachings of the Geeta with enthusiasm and respect.
