PLANT A SMILE| DAY-7| FIRE LESS COOKING ACTIVITY

Navratri 2024 Day 7: Maa Kalaratri is worshipped on Saptami.

Navratri, one of the most cherished festivals in Hindu culture, is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm across India. It marks nine nights of worship dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Each day of SharadNavratri is associated with a particular form of the goddess, and it is also customary to wear specific colours that correspond with each day.

Maa Kalaratri is worshipped on the seventh day of ShardiyaNavratri. She is one of the nine forms of Maa Durga and is considered the fiercest and the most ferocious form of Goddess Parvati. It is believed that when Maa Parvati removed her golden skin to kill demons, she came to be known as Maa Kalaratri.

The goddess has a dark complexion and rides a donkey. She is depicted with four hands – her right hands are in Abhaya and Varada Mudra and her left hands carry a sword and an iron hook.

Her worship is especially important for those seeking protection from evil influences and spiritual progress. Devotees believe that by worshipping Maa Kalratri, they can attain strength, courage, and protection against misfortune and danger. She also helps in dissolving deep-rooted fears and anxieties, guiding devotees toward self-realization and inner peace. The auspicious color of day 7, or Saptami, is royal blue. It represents richness and tranquility.
